December 11 - A pair of eighth-graders at Warner Robins Middle School in Warner Robins, Georgia, are expected to be charged with indecent exposure after allegedly engaging in oral sex in a classroom while class was in progress, according to school liaison officer, Sgt. Porter Wood.
A male student and a female student allegedly performed the act in the back of the room, while a substitute teacher and other students were present. According to Wood, several students witnessed the incident and alerted a school administrator, but did not bring it to the attention of the teacher at the time. Tabitha Pugh, public information officer for the Warner Robins Police Department, says the teacher’s view was obstructed by the students in front of her.

Seeking unemployed witches in Sweden

Seeking unemployed witches in Sweden | IceNews - Daily News: “During the current economic downturn, finally some positive employment news is coming out of Sweden: Haxriket i Norden, a company based in Ahus, is looking to hire 20 witches to staff its phones and internet website. The company specialises in fortunes, predictions and other advice at a price of just USD 2.45 per minute.

The Local newspaper reports that qualified candidates for the position must be experienced in ‘contact with the other side, runes, tarots, crystals, herbs, rituals, exorcism, meditation, personal coaching, and more.’ Interested witches must also have a fixed telephone line and Internet connection, but can enjoy the advantages of working from home.

Haxriket’s massive hiring wave is the result of an internal shakeup in the company in which several formerly-employed witches had to be terminated for violating telemarketing ethics that were put into place in 1994 by Sweden’s Trade Ethical Council for Telemarketing. What they did was not mentioned.”

Are some worried the Palins are Pagans?

GetReligion: “The essay makes several good points (with inexplicably hostile language, but whatever) and I’m glad, as a libertarian, that someone is noticing Palin’s libertarian streak. But read that first part again. Did she really name two of her children after witches? Hunh?

“Apparently that ‘fact’ came from someone you should be careful taking seriously: the once-interesting Andrew Sullivan. He alleged that the children were named after television show witches based on, um, reader email. Never mind that the dates don’t match up.”

Bigfoot, Monsters and Ghosts: Why We Want to Believe

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008 | Weird | No Comments

Bigfoot, Monsters and Ghosts: Why We Want to Believe: “Monsters are everywhere these days, and belief in them is as strong as ever.

What’s harder to believe is why so many people buy into hazy evidence, shady schemes and downright false reports that perpetuate myths that often have just one ultimate truth: They put money in the pockets of their purveyors.

The bottom line, according to several interviews with people who study these things: People want to believe, and most simply can’t help it.”
